TRIUMPH OF KAROL SKOWERSKI
IN SLOVAKIAN OPEN 9-BALL
      There never was polish final in Komarno yet. In the history of Slovakian Championship won Hungarians and Czechs. Poles played in final matches, but they never were able to win. This time it was differently. In the quarter final played five players from Polish Billiard Federation, and on the podium there were threesome. Fascinating triumph reached Karol Skowerski from CONTACT Kielce, who after exciting match finishes outplayed in semi-final Antoanell Judet (BLACK WOLF Bucarest) 9:8 and in final game Wojciech Trajdos (TREFL Sopot) also 9:8. Trajdos at the result of 7:4 did not finish an easy frame. Skowerski restored his trust in success and for the second time in this year won Dynamic Billard Best of the East. The first time this player from Kielce (Poland) won in Polish 9-ball in march.
Traditionally the tournament of Best of the East returned to the country, which is the one of initiators of beginning this cycle. Clubs „Golden West” and „Saturnus” in Komarno many times entertained participants of international tournaments. This time on Slovakia 9-ball took part over 100 players from 9 countries (Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro, Ukraine, Israel and Slovakia). The most frequent were teams from Poland and Hungary. Among participants was also the best polish wheelchair player – Leszek Blumczynski (JANTAR Słupsk). He drove over 900 km to play in Komarno. Zvi Zion from Israel returned very defeated from Slovakia. The winner of Romanian 9-ball won 4 group matches, but he did not promote to the cup round. Also start of Sandor Tot from Hungary, who is on the second place in EPBF ranking, was not successful. He took the 17th place after defeat with Roman Certik from Slovakia. At the top of general ranking still remains T. Kapłan, but his point advantage beyond K. Skowerski and W. Trajdos is very small. Thus the competitions in Hungary and Ukraine seems to be very interesting.
